I love the zoo in Amarillo! It is a favorite visiting place for our grandchildren and we try to go at least once a month. Boo at the zoo is great for the kids and animals alike! I love seeing children enjoy seeing the different animals in our world and I wish they had a more exhibits, but I also think it's the perfect size for a Saturday fun day for grandparents and grandkids!
A good selection of animals for a small zoo in a small city! On our visit the lion roared, the lemurs played, and the tigers posed. The bear was restless, but the rest on the animals were relaxed, but active. Even the turkeys posed for photos. All the animals looked healthy. Plenty of parking and the admission is half price on Mondays. You only need an hour. More of you linger. We took our sons family including the grandkids and we all really enjoyed it.
A nice clean zoo. Its a good size for Amarillo, not huge, but worth the admission. Most of the animals just lay around all day, but if you go early in the morning, they are more active. I've been going here for years, and the zoo, and animals, look a lot better than they did 10 years ago! Could use a few more/new animals, but its always a good experience.
It's a small zoo, but it's well managed and has a great layout along with great education programs and seasonal events. Great variety of animals. Would love to see the addition of elephants and giraffes some day.
Amarillo doesn't have a very large zoo. They do however focus on local species. They also have 3 lions, two bengal tigers and a black bear. It's a quick walk and educational. I think it would be really great if they would find a use for the original entrance other than storage. It is a truly unique piece of architecture. They have a very nice reptile and amphibian exhibit.
